CIWL (Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits et des Grands Express Europeens) Fourgon (luggage and generator car) No. 3354. Today this coach belongs to the Nostalgie Istanbul Orient Express, it is owned by the Reisebuero Mittelthurgau and used on excursions in Europe under the UIC number 51 85 09-30 010-0. Luggage cars were at both ends of all CIWL trains - one for the luggage of the passengers, the other for the provisions of the kitchens. This car is painted in the old cream/brown colours as they were used for the Fleche d'Or and Sud-Express. It has been rebuilt with a diesel generator that provides energy even when the train is not coupled to a locomotive; for this some windows have been replaced by airing grilles. Photo: Tobias B.
