This is a list made by Maurice Janssen (M.J.W.JANSSEN@KUB.NL) and contains some non-active manufacturers of railroad equipment.
Companies which are closed down, but have successors are listed in the Maurice Railroad Equipment Industry List (MREIL) with the currently active manufacturers.
The are also some companies listed that are still active, but this won't be for long..

      Formerly known as Eisengießerei und Maschinenbauanstalt von Louis Schwartzkopf
      Berlin, Germany.
      Founded in 1852. Started in 1867 to build lokomotives. In 1870 renamed into BMAG. Ended in 1945 when Berlin was divided in sectors. On the top of their existence they employed 5900 people.
    2. Lokomotivbau Karl Marx Babelsberg (LKM)
      The Märkische Lokomotivfabrik in Schlachtensee was founded in 1892. The plant was moved to Berlin-Drewitz as Orenstein & Koppel (O&K) in 1899. The Arthur Koppel AG was taken over in 1909 and the new name was Orenstein & Koppel - Arthuer Koppel AG. In 1912 Montania AG in Nordhausen was taken over. In 1919 the firm was renamed into Orenstein & Koppel AG (O&K). Mergers of Coachbuilders Dessau and Gotha in 1930. 'Arisierung' of the firm and it was renamd as Maschinenbau und Bahnbedarfs AG (MBA) Babelsberg in 1940. In 1948 the firm was renamed into LOWA Lokomotivbau Karl Marx VEB Babelsberg (LKM Babelsberg). In 1971 the building of lokomotives ended.
    3. Borsig
      Berlin-Tegel, Germany.
      A. Borsig was founded in 1837 by Johann Karl Friedrich August (1804-1854) and his son Albert continued the comnpany. Vanaf 1841 werden er loks geproduceerd en in 1847 had het bedrijf al 1200 werknemers. Het maakte onder andere de Nederlandse Nestor.

      Mecklenburg, Germany.
      Manufacturer of the Wismar Railbusses in 1932-1941 (785/900/1000/1435 mm). In 1879 took Heinrich Podeus the ironplant Crull & Co. over and started to build railwat vehicles. The waggonfabrik merged in 1917 with the Deutschen Wagen-Leihanstalt Berlin and took the name Eisen- bahn-Verkehrsmittel-Aktiengesellschaft Berlin (EVA). Started to build sleep- and diner coaches in 1900 and from 1924 the firm builded motor cars. In 1936 the firm changed his name into Triebwagen- und Waggonfabrik Wismar AG, but was still a subdiary of EVA. Closed down in 1947.
