my impression of the class 158 "Sprinter" DMU in the Scotrail livery, The 158 is a development of the earlier class 156, identified by space bonded passenger windows, instead of the framed in type of the 156 The entire Sprinter family entered service in the mid to late 80s, and serves all areas of the UK rail network, particularly the midlands areas, and compared to earlier DMU classes, the air suspension of the Sprinter gives a very smooth ride.

Like the class 156, the class 158 utilises a walk-through section on the front, so multiple sets can be coupled together also, the sprinter family is interchangable, so class 158's and 156's are able to work along side eachother.
