My (fantasy) idea of a special narrow-gauge Talgo trainset for the Rhätische Bahn in Switzerland:
the Talgo Retica. The train could be used for the express trains Chur - St. Moritz, and perhaps
for a new line from Chur to Bellizona via Thusis and Messocco (a long time ago there were plans
for such a line, but they were abandoned). If the Talgo Retica would be fitted with the ability
to change gauges, it could continue over SBB tracks, perhaps for a Zurich - St. Moritz express train?

ÖBB class 4012 - finally a worthy successor of the legendary
4010 "Transalpin" units!
The class 4010 units of the ÖBB, built since the 1960s, are comfortable and popular, but getting old - it is planned to retire them until 2007, but the ÖBB doesn't seem to have a concept yet for replacing them. Here is my idea: a Talgo XXI unit with 15 cars, 200.76 m long. Two of these units can be coupled together and split up on the way. The passive tilting allows higher speeds on existing lines, and thanks to a top speed of 220 km/h and airtight carbodies, these units could use future high speed lines as well. Single- or multi-system power cars are possible, thanks to the low weight of the middle cars the unit has a good acceleration. In 1st class, open cars with panoramic windows and four 5-seat business compartments are offered. The dining-car offers full meal service, but can also be used for extra seats. The kitchen in the buffet car serves the dining-car and an optional trolley service in 1st and 2nd class. In 2nd class, a wheelchair-compatible car is offered as well as a family car with play area and a bicycle car; the passengers can choose between 6-seat compartments and open cars. Electric and audio plugs are offered at all seats, the open cars have video screens in addition, showing movies, GPS location info and/or the track ahead (during the day).
